Now…onto the good stuff! haha.
It is always rough to continue to get up out of bed and face the day. For many people, it is not an over-exaggeration to say that getting out of bed is an act of courage - because it is!
For me, I love life. I enjoy the sun, the birds, holidays, ceremonies, a good glass of wine, or a cold soda. I enjoy seeing people laugh, smile, and show love. I enjoy holding my dog or playing with my nephews. But I enjoy these things because I know that they are gifts, which I am not entitled to but am blessed to have in my life, even if it is just in a mode of observation.
I am definitely one of those persons who, at times, struggles to get out of bed. Many times, I just roll over and go back to sleep because the idea of dealing with the shadows of the human experience, is just too much.
But after awhile, I choose to get up, pour that magical cup of coffee, send out a blessing for the day, then slowly allow myself to be in process. I allow myself to ease into the day. There is an old zen proverb that I often quote to myself in the morning, which goes like this:
Smile and go slowly.
When I get to my office, typically, I begin my morning prayer time with song, in fact, I sing throughout the day! I believe strongly that: praise sets the captives free!
So, I would like to leave you with this song, which I often sing when I need a little reminder to keep on keeping on (as many of you have heard me say regularly). May this be a blessing to you wherever you are.
In the end, we will understand, but for now, let’s enjoy this moment.
Peace and Good things,
+Rev. Fr. Jerry - The People’s Priest
